So This Happened
Okay, you know what? I’m not going to apologize for it.
When we found out my wife was pregnant, I decided it was time to stop screwing around and ever since that day I’ve written at least a thousand words of fiction, every day, no exceptions (though one day I almost forgot and got out of bed at two in the morning and wrote exactly one thousand words of borderline nonsense, none of which I kept).
From 10 September 2015 to 20 November 2015 — about two months — I wrote Community fanfiction. I wrote nearly a hundred and twenty thousand words of Community fanfiction. I’m of the opinion it’s actually pretty good. It’s organized as a season of the show, with thirteen chapters each consisting of three acts. The first half of it is about the show’s main character hooking up with the brunette. The second half is about that same brunette’s estranged mother. The brunette’s my favorite character, sue me (please don’t sue me).
I set it immediately after the third season of Community because the third season is my favorite and if I’m going to be so rude as to overwrite a season of the show, clearly the best season to do that to is the fourth; it’s a no-brainer.

I’ll be honest: the first couple of chapter/episodes aren’t the strongest. I think it starts to get good with the third chapter. I’d try to rework the first two chapters, make them more palatable, but by gum I’m moving forward, not backward.
And now I have to find something else to write, and I don’t want to go back to the execrable novel I was forcing myself to vomit out before I gave up on it in favor of fanfic, so even though I vowed not to, I’m apparently going to write more Community fanfic. Either a contrahistoric fifth season sequel to my contrahistoric fourth season, or a seventh season, I haven’t decided.
Well…if you to do something else besides Community, how about dong a complete write-up of that “lost season” of Chip and Dale’s Rescue Rangers you described a few years ago.
Seriously, how did I not know a baby is expected? Did everyone know but me? I feel so left out
If an additional suggestion is not an imposition, I’ve always thought you could provide an additional follow on story to “The Mask” from King in Yellow. Odd chemical formula and an eerie prose challenge.
Also congratulations!
I too seem to have missed something, so hey congratulations!!
Uh, congratulations to you and E., you old so-and-so!
