In this modern age, the outmoded concept of the tacent likely requires some explanation. As a full understanding of Zoeticism is impossible lacking comprehension of this basic tenet of their beliefs, it seems time must be set aside for its explication. Three times the student hears the peal of the lesson, and two times the lesson goes unheeded. Hear now the full truth. The Dark which resides in all things resides in the tacent. The strength which is impelled from all things is impelled from the tacent. The Undying have surrendered their tacent to the care of the Dark. The Undying have a new tacent, one formed from within the Dark. Manipulation of the tacent is the art called tacentry.
Ol-Rasta, the Silver Marquise, has in recent decades mastered a novel form of tacentry, the art of Domination. An interesting experiment, proposed but not yet carried out, is attempting the use of a mill for the reworking of any frail mind on one of the Velvet Men, who are known for their lack of tacents.
