Primary Sources: No Post Today
I’m a US citizen and today is Election Day here. So, in honor of Election Day (and to correct a hiccup in the automatic post scheduling system) no post today. Instead, enjoy this image of yesterday’s scene, Morgan le Fay and her bridge club stumbling across a sleeping Sir Launcelot.
This is “Four Queens Find Lancelot Sleeping” by Frank Cadogan Cowper, the last of the Pre-Raphaelites. Not pictured: the complex awning system the queens had to keep themselves out of the sunlight.
Sleeping in full plate mail! Nothin’ more comfortable than that. Plate mail is like those Snuggies you see on TV commercials. Haha, I kid, I kid, Launcelot should take a point of Fatigue.
I really ought to put some kind of post together about TOR and how it more or less successfully describes a world in which walking across Mirkwood (or strolling into Mordor) is in itself a heroic feat, and every adventuring party needs a hobbit
mascotmorale officer.I also like the way Morgan and the others are out strolling around in those enormous fur-lined ballgowns and crowns and I’m pretty sure eyeshadow. It’s the lady equivalent of sleeping in plate.
On a completely unrelated note, I happily hold you responsible that when observing the posters for the Hobbit my first thought is to the Beard Length rating of the dwarves in the posters. And noting that Thorin clearly made a dump into Gold Thirst and fast-talked the GM into letting him have a tassel on his hood.
Man, that one takes me back. There’s a project I let die too soon.
